Ok, Ok, it is time to get re-motivated! I have still been exercising consistently, but not eating the way I should. Seems to be the story of my life. Once I get in the habit of exercising it is easy to keep doing it, because I enjoy it so much. It is just the eating part of getting healthy that I have a hard time sticking to. As I think about it, I'm not sure exactly why. I have been able to eat very yummy healthy food, things that I really quite enjoy. It is just programmed somewhere in my head that I "need" the junk food, that I "need" to eat garbage when I am feeling stressed or sad or happy or any emotion outside of just neutral. I need to fix that. I need to figure out how to fix that so that I can lose this weight. I have gained 2 lbs. this week. So, overall I am up 5 lbs from my lowest a few weeks ago.
On a brighter note ... I will be starting a fitness challenge with some other women this next week. I believe this will really help me get back on track. Here are the rules of the challenge.
Each of the following will earn you ONE point per day, plus ONE bonus point
per week if you don't miss a day:
No Desserts (6 points possible, plus 1 point bonus = 7 possible per week)
No Soda (6, plus 1 = 7 possible per week)
No Eating after 7:30pm (6, plus 1 = 7 possible per week)
Exercising (30 minutes, elevated heart rate) (6, plus 1 = 7 possible per
week)
Scriptures (at least 1 chapter) (6, plus 1 = 7 possible per week)
Weekly Challenge (6, plus 1 = 7 possible per week)
There are SEVEN days in a week! That's the beauty
of it, you have Sundays off. Yippee! You can look forward to
that one dessert or that one soda one day a week - easier to stay on track
and get back into it on Monday!
Okay - there are THREE MORE possible points per week.
ONE point per week for Weight Loss - if you've lost at least one pound, or
maintained your ideal weight, you get a point.
ONE point per week for Family Home Evening - that's right - doesn't matter
which night you hold it on, just as long as you organize and carry it out!
One point if you do!
ONE point per week will be a Mystery Point - I will take suggestions from
all of you and then draw one per week.
THAT MAKES A TOTAL OF 45 POINTS POSSIBLE PER WEEK - WINNER AT THE END OF 12
WEEKS TAKES HOME 80% OF THE PRIZE MONEY, SECOND PLACE TAKES 20%!
I am excited for this challenge, but also a tiny bit hesitant just because right as the challenge starts I will be going on a 2 week road trip with my kids. I will still be able to exercise most of the time. I will be bringing my P90X DVD's and weights etc. so I can still do it while I am on the trip. But there will be a few days of traveling that will prevent me from working out. And I am not sure how I can do 14+ hrs. on the road without drinking some sort of caffeinated drink! But I will do my best and the challenge is for 12 weeks, so it is not worth not doing it, just for 2 weeks that might be difficult.

Will I Be Famous? :)
I didn't post last week's weigh in, mostly because I was bugged! I know the way I was eating did not deserve a weight loss, but it still stinks to see it on the scale. I actually gained 3 lbs. last week. This week I did better in the eating department, but still not 100% the way that I should be. I didn't lose weight again this week .. however, my body fat % has dropped by over 4%. I think that is quite significant, but I still need to lose lbs as well.
Yesterday I went to a taping of The Biggest Loser. For some strange reason they were here in Laveen, of all places! lol They were here "picking up" two of their contestants for this season. So, there were about 200 of us (give or take .. but a lot less people there than I had expected) that got to be there, meet a lot of the celebs from the show (ie, Ali, Betty Sue, Sione, Bob, Dr. H etc.) We also got free Biggest Loser t-shirts. They had 3 people who wanted to be contestants. They had their first weigh in there in front of us and then they had their first challenge to earn their way onto the show. They had to do a 1 mile run. The first two across the finish line got into a limo and headed for the Biggest Loser ranch. They had all of us (or those that wanted to) run with them. It was 90 degrees when we did the run. It was so stinkin hot! I don't do well running in the heat. I ran the mile faster than I usually do. (13 min.) but I ended up with a migraine later in the afternoon :)
I ended up in a bit of a predicament; they gave the contestants a head start and then we were not allowed to pass them until a certain point in the race (probably about 1/4 mile) I ended up passing all of them, but just barely passed the first contestant to finish (Jessica) a few hundred yards before the finish line. I wanted to get a good amount ahead of her so that I was not on camera running in with her. However, right at the end she got a spurt of adrenaline, I am assuming and sprinted into the finish line. I couldn't stay ahead of her, so I finished right at the same time as she did. I am not excited about seeing myself on TV running! :(
Overall, it was a fun day. I am glad that I went ... migraine and all! :)

Bump in the Road
This has been an interesting week. Not as P90X-ish as it should be. It has shown me that I for sure need to learn a better way to deal with stress than by eating junk! I have still worked out every day like I am supposed to, for the most part I guess I should say. We went to do the Legs and back workout and even though it is labeled as legs and back it is a duplicate copy of Ab Ripper X. So, we ended up just doing Ab Ripper X. We should have just chosen a different workout to do, but neither one of us really felt like working out anyhow!
So, my main concern for this week is my diet. I have stayed pretty close to eating what I am supposed to eat, but added a few things that I should not have eating, such as a few donut holes, ice cream and Reses peanut butter cups! Horrible, I know. I have for sure felt the difference as far as having a sugar high and then slump. I think I am back on track and have gotten on the junk food cravings out of my system.
I am curious about this weeks weigh in, just in the sense that I would not at all be surprised if I don't lose any weight :( I guess we will see in a couple of days.

05/09/2010 weigh in
I am lovin' P90X! As I stated in my earlier posts, I was concerned about the amount of calories they say that I should be eating (3000 per day) But I decided to give it a try this week. I never did reach the 3000 calories, but I for sure upped my caloric intake and broadened my diet. Oh yeah! It worked! I lost 3 lbs this week! I am very pleased!
About 5 years ago I did a program called 6 Week Body Makeover. I was successful in losing 40 lbs (which got me to my goal weigh) It obviously worked for me, but it was DANG hard. Not because of the exercise that was required, because they only had you walk 45 min. a day and a few light resistance exercises, but the diet was SO restrictive. But it worked for me. So, as I have been trying to lose weight this time, I have been trying to stick pretty close to the same diet, however, I was being much more active than the 45 min. of walking etc. I don't think I was giving myself enough calories. Being consistent with the P90X diet is SO much easier. I will for sure be able to do this long term. I am expecting to make it at least P180X ... It is going to take me at least 6 months to get to where I really want to be. But that is okay. I can do this!
And another thing that I was "re-taught" yesterday .... ACCESS BARS ARE HEAVEN SENT AND COMPLETELY NECESSARY!!! My husband has started working out with me, I hadn't planned on that, so we ran out of Access bars before I had the chance to order some more. We were forced to work out yesterday without them. It about killed us! We were both completely exhausted just a few minutes into it, until we hit our "natural" second wind (which is essentially what the Access bar provides from the moment you start working out) and we were both sore and achy for the rest of the day. This was a VERY different experience than what we have had all the other days! I will NEVER workout without an Access bar again! My order of Access bars won't be here until Wednesday, but luckily our awesome friend Bruce is lending us a box until then!
On a side note .. I hope all the mother's out there are having a fabulous Mother's Day! I already got breakfast in bed, a beautiful lily plant and a bonsai (dream) tree. Thanks to my wonderful family. :)

P90X update
so far things are going well with P90X. I realized last night that there is actually a P90X lean program that focuses more on cardio and allows for larger amounts of weight loss, instead of focusing mainly on muscle gain. So, I am doing that. I am also excited because my husband has decided to do it with me. It is fun to have someone to work out with!
As far as the diet .... I have not been successful in reaching the 3000 calories that they recommend. I am certain I could reach it if I was eating out for my meals, but 3000 calories of healthy food is A LOT of food! I have been VERY full. But it for sure keeps me from wanting to snack on sweets etc. I made strawberry creme pies on Sunday, I had a piece on Sunday but have been able to have self control and not have any since then. The rest of the family finished them off tonight, so crisis averted! :)
I a little anxious about the weigh in on Sunday. I am very curious to see if I will still loose weight even though I am eating more. I will let you know! :) Good night!

05/02/2010 weigh in
So, this weight loss thing is going a lot slower than I expected and wanted it to go. But at least the weight is coming off. I lost 1 lb. this week. I did better on the diet this week, but still not as well as I need to.
This week I purchased P90X. I was able to find it on craigslist for a lot less and it came with the resistance bands that are needed. I was a little bit intimidated (ok, a lot intimidated) when I opened it and started reading the information that is included. They really warn you about the difficulty of the work outs and make sure that you know that you need to be to a certain physical level before you use the system. I was regretting my purchase because I was sure it was too difficult for me. But I have done one of the work outs previously (at a group exercise class) and I was able to complete it, so I decided to try another one on Saturday and see if I was able to complete it. I was successful in completing it (though I had to modify several of the moves as was an option, however I was successful in finishing). So, I am going to give it a real try starting tomorrow! I'm going to be getting up at 5 am and spending the hour doing the P90X workouts 6 days a week.
The meal plan for P90X is causing me some concern. It is just very different than what I have always known about losing weight. In all reality, P90X is more of a strength training and muscle building system than weight loss, but you certainly can lose weight on it. But according to the meal plan I need to eat 3000 calories a day! Obviously it is 3000 calories of the correct foods, but that is a lot of calories. They insist that even at that amount of calories you will lose weight at a very accelerated rate. So, I am going to give it a try. I am going to stick to their suggested meal plan to a "T" this week and we will see what the results are! Wish me luck! :)
